Mental Health Crisis in the West Bank

Mental Health Crisis in the West Bank Palestinian civilians suffer physically and mentally from attacks on their homes, communities, and bodies in Hebron, in the Israeli-occupied West Bank. Landmines left by Israeli forces are another perpetual danger. Children in particular are at risk for long-term mental health issues after experiencing or witnessing these traumatic events. During a 6-month period this year, Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) provided 8,145 people with mental health consultations in Hebron; 60 percent of our patients were children. "After the explosion, Itab is not like before,” says Nahar, an MSF patient who worries about his daughter. "She was laughing and playing before, but now her psychological situation is not OK.”
