Painting on a textured surface - Plein air urban painting.

This video shows you a method to use in your painting for creating more visual interest. See my Urban Painting Playlist at this link: .For this plein air urban painting, I prepped the canvas beforehand with a coating of acrylic paint that was applied with a putty knife and palette knives. This method created a surface that helped suggest the texture of brick by scumbling dryer paint layers over the initial texture. I suggest using bristle brushes to paint with as they will hold up better against the roughness of the canvas. The colors you use for the prepping should be considered as they might possibly show through in areas of the completed work.
