MIN. OF EDUCATION GOES AHEAD WITH EXAMS INSPITE OF CLAS SUSPENSION The Ministry of Education has dismissed claims that end of term
examinations will not be administered because of the closure of
several schools over the past few weeks.
The Entrepot, Sir Ira Simmons and the Bocage Secondary Schools
were closed due to health a safety issues at the learning institutions,
which affected students’ instruction time.
But the Ministry says examination will go ahead as planned
While no formal notification, was sent by the Ministry of Education
to parents indicating the suspension of end of term exams, a number
students appeared to have drawn that conclusion on their own and
misinformed their parents.
Parents of students of the Entrepot Secondary School last week
expressed concern about what the closure would mean for students
ability to sit exams
Saint Lucia Teachers Union President Julian Monrose has denied
knowledge of the situation
Acting Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education Kendall
Khodra says the key mandate of the Ministry is the instruction of
students and there are different methods that can be employed to
accomplish this.
He says staff from the Ministry will be working closely with the
affected schools to determine the best approach.
