In this video we discuss how reassurance can become a roadblock to recovery for the sufferer. There is nothing wrong with giving reassurance to an anxious individual in the short term. It is a soothing caring response. However over time it can become a habit and a vicious cycle ensues. The more reassurance the carer gives such as "we will not make you fat", the more often the sufferer seeks that reassurance. We look at a range of strategies and phrases carers might use to sidestep the reassurance trap.
