Victoria's $650m bushfire prevention technology could actually start a fire, expert warns | 7.30 Across decades, inquiries and royal commissions have confirmed one chilling fact - the nation's deadliest bushfires have been sparked by fallen powerlines on days of extreme weather.

Since Victoria's Black Saturday bushfires a decade ago, that state's government has spent hundreds of millions of dollars trying to reduce the risk. It's rolling out a world-first technological fix but the costs have blown out and some experts are warning the technology itself could pose a fire risk.
