Fr. Marlin Connole Celebrates The First Sunday Of Advent And Proclaims Stay Awake And Be Alert

Fr. Marlin Connole Celebrates The First Sunday Of Advent And Proclaims Stay Awake And Be Alert In today's homily, Fr. Connole explains the call to action that Advent Season beckons, which is inner attentiveness and awareness. In today's Gospel the proclamation is "Therefore, stay awake! For you do not know on which day your Lord will come. " Hence, Fr. Connole exhorts the faithful to maintain a state of inner attentiveness and awareness in the spirit of Advent in preparation of the birth of the Christ Child on Christmas Day, but also in preparation for the day when the Lord will come again, which is unknown.

In addition, Fr. Connole illustrates from the First Reading from the prophet Isaiah, that proclaims "Come, let us climb the LORD's mountain, to the house of the God of Jacob, that he may instruct us in his ways, and we may walk in his paths." Fr. Connole says that climbing a mountain, any mountain takes effort, but the work is worth the effort when one reaches the top of the mountain, there is joy and celebration. Whether it is a physical mountain or spiritual mountain, a continuous effort is required, but the reward of reaching the top, is indeed worth the effort.

In conclusion, Fr. Connole proclaims the essence of Advent Season as an invitation to the faithful to climb God's mountain, to allow the light of God's instruction, to guide the faithful into God's paths, and into eternal salvation.
