People gathered outside Kinnick Stadium at 6:30 p.m. on Monday to wave and shine lights up at the patients and families at University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital, a tradition that’s been a part of Iowa’s home football games since the 2017 season. Monday’s event was organized on Facebook as the “Holiday Wave at Stead Family Children’s Hospital” as a way to light up the night for children spending the holiday season in the hospital, according to the event post.
