Freddie Ljungberg defended Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang after he left the pitch for a mid-game toilet break during his side's 2-1 defeat by Brighton. The Gunners slumped to a shock loss after Adam Webster and Neal Maupay scored either side of Alexandre Lacazette's equaliser.Arsenal's cause wasn't made any easier by Aubameyang leaving the pitch for several minutes to use the toilet - but Ljungberg says the striker had no other choice. 'I actually didn't even notice he went off, I just saw him come back on after he'd been off for a couple of minutes,' he said. 'When you need to go, you need to go.'However, despite receiving the backing of his manager, Aubameyang's decision to leave the pitch left supporters perplexed on social media.'Aubameyang went to take a dump right?' asked one user on Twitter.Another supporter was left equally confused: 'And Aubameyang has just emerged from the tunnel. Toilet break?' One asked: 'Did Aubameyang just run to the toilet in the middle of the game which we were losing?'And another fan added: 'Did Aubameyang go to toilet?' Despite returning to the field, there was little the striker could do to help his side as they slipped to their fourth defeat of the season. The loss leaves Arsenal in 10th position in the Premier League table and could accelerate their move for a permanent replacement for Unai Emery.
