The Newcastle Municipality stands by its decision to dismiss 233 employees. The workers were released from their contracts after they allegedly held municipal officials including the mayor hostage and allegedly assaulted officials.
Municipal officials says it has overwhelming evidence that some of the employees were defrauding the municipality of millions of rands.
