Rep. Jason Crow, D-Colo., said at the impeachment trial for President Donald Trump on Jan. 24 that what makes America great are the Americans who sacrifice themselves for the country. “Generation after generation, there have been Americans that have been willing to stand up, and put aside their self-interest, to make great sacrifices for the public good,” Crow said. He added that being at the impeachment trial “isn't politically expedient. It certainly isn't for me. It’s hard, requires sacrifice, it’s uncomfortable, but that is the very definition of public service, that we are here to give of ourselves for the country, for others.” Crow added that he attempted to honor those sacrifices presenting the Democratic case of abuse of power against Trump. After spending two days laying out the case for the first article of impeachment — abuse of power — House Democrats spent the better part of Friday making the case for the second article of impeachment — obstruction of Congress. The House of Representatives impeached the president in December. The Senate trial will determine whether Trump is acquitted, or convicted of the two articles of impeachment and removed from office.
