Building Search Fundamentals

Here is a short block of instruction from a recent law enforcement class. Apply basic simple tactics of building search, room entry, room clearing and special situations such as stairs when you can.

Know the different search speeds and when to utilize them. Dynamic speeds are not always needed. Keep it deliberate and controlled when searching and clearing. When it’s time to go dynamic and move to contact, the fundamentals remain the same but are executed quickly. Increasing your speed increases over exposure, reduces deep searches and dead space clearing but it may be needed if active killing is occurring.
