Why one must learn basic Rook endgames 90% of time we end up having Rook ending when a game reaches an endgame. When it happens in a tournament, we have witnessed even top players missing out easy theoretical wins or draws. So it is absolutely imperative to learn the basic Rook-Pawn endings.

Here we see an example of a completely winning Rook-Pawn endgame for white, Debarpan Saha (1188) playing against Aayushman Jha (1077) in Round 7 of Chess Idol All Bengal Open Rapid 2020.
