Drastic Pruning of large apple tree

This year we are reducing the height, as well as, removing disease from the tree. The cuts made this year are larger than what is preferred. However, it is safer to make the cuts lower to the ground since we don't have a boom lift. Will need to watch the suckers this year and stay on top of the tree as it responds so it doesn't get out of control.
