Love is Living Our Values Equally 2020

Love is Living Our Values Equally 2020 On Saturday, February 22, 2020, we hosted our 5th annual Love is L.O.V.E.: Living Our Values Equally benefit, an intimate evening dedicated to celebrating queer & trans Caribbean love and liberation at the Jamaica Center for Arts & Learning, from 6pm - 9pm in Queens, NY.

This dynamic event showcased the intersections of LGBTQ identities, culture and Caribbeaness through immigrant storytelling, trans & HIV education, and cultural performances. The evening featured a reading from Crossfire: A Litany for Survival by world-renowned LGBTQ poet and spoken-word artist, Staceyann Chin and music by poet, singer, and songwriter, Nhojj. Our program included a storytelling panel discussion featuring culturally competent mental health professionals, reproductive justice & trans rights activists, and community building organizers Antoine Craigwell, Shivana Jorawar, Wladimir Lewis-Thomas, Sai Ali, & Melvin Owens. As a closing feature, we will have a powerful multi-cultural performance by Sundari - The Indian Goddess, Jahlisa A. Ross, Rajeev Singh, & Detoxx BĂșsti-ae, followed by a post-networking reception.
