Dorsey, in his first public appearance since Bloomberg initially reported his potential ouster, said he’s been mulling over his relocation to Africa during a Morgan Stanley conference. The remarks came after a comment about whether he would change how he spends his time traveling “given what’s going on in the world.”  “I had been working on plans where I’d work decentralized, as my team and I do when we travel, but in light of COVID-19 and everything else going on I need to re-evaluate,” he said.  “Either way, we’ll continue to pursue opportunities in Africa.”  The Twitter CEO last year revealed his intentions to spend between three and six months on the continent, though he did not say where. He said he hoped to learn more about the internet there and how it is consumed – given Africa is one of the most populated places in the world.  During his presentation, Dorsey said he regretted announcing his plans to move without providing the context, explaining that Africa presents a “huge opportunity” for young people to join Twitter, according to Bloomberg. Earlier this week, Twitter said it was strongly encouraging employees around the world to work from home amid the coronavirus outbreak. The company also announced plans to suspend all “non-critical” business travel and events.  Globally, the number of confirmed coronavirus cases climbed to more than 100,000 on Friday. There have also been 3,300 deaths linked to the illness, mostly in mainland China. Senegal this week reported that four people have been diagnosed, though Africa’s number of confirmed cases ranks lower than most other continents.
