Aid from private donors arrives in Bahamas

Aid from private donors arrives in Bahamas (7 Sep 2019) Four tons of aid from private individuals in Miami arrived in the Bahamian city of Freeport on Saturday, amid rising frustration over the slow official response to Hurricane Dorian.

They donated three containers full of water, paper towels, medicine and other supplies, which were distributed to over 100 people.

Men, women and children were seen queuing and carrying the aid back to their vehicles.

"I had some friends from the U.S. (and) they decided to donate three containers," said aid coordinator Edward Hanna. "We're just trying to assist as best as we can."

At least 43 people died in the hurricane and the death toll is rising.
