How To Use Colored Labels In Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Classic

Learn how to use Colored Labels in Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Classic.

The most efficient way to separate the your favorite images from the rest of the pack inside of Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Classic is with a metadata marking.

You can quickly mark your favorites in Adobe Lightroom Classic using flags, star ratings, and colored labels. Adobe recently extended the colored label feature to include our folders and collections too.

The ability to add a colored label to our favorite folders, and collections, is a nice new feature. Using this new option can make finding your favorite folders, collections, collections sets, or smart collections, much faster.

To add a colored label, right-click on a collection or a collection set, and then choose the new Add Color Label To Collection command. To remove a colored label, use the Add Color Label To Collection - None command.

Remember that adding a colored label to a collection set does not add automatically pass that color down to the collections within a set. To give a bunch of collections, or folders, the same color all at once select all of them first in the appropriate Library Module panel using a shift or control / command click and then use the new Add Color Label To Collection command to mark them all at once.

Finally, be aware that colored labels do not synchronize with the Adobe Lightroom Mobile for iOS or Android Apps.

For those of you like me, who are working with both Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Classic and the Adobe Lightroom for Mobile Apps together then it makes sense to ignore colored labels in Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Classic and to stick with the stars ratings / pick and reject flags since these metadata markings will carry over to the mobile App.
