So, is this the best "affordable" geared tripod head for architecture and Real Estate? I'd have to say that it offers everything you need to do quick and high quality photo shoots on site. It just started shipping worldwide from China in the last 2 months of 2019, so it's brand new! With this new design by Sunwayfoto they've integrated the 2 speeds of the gears into the one handle by adding a crank to them. This means that you can get that very minute movements as well as very smooth and quick changes to the angle of the head. I did a lot of research online and there wasn't any video's showing how the ne GH-PRO II actually worked, was it smooth, rigid, slow, fast? So I decided to share the movements and my thoughts on here.
Having a geared head is extremely important in the architecture and real estate photography industry. If you're using a ballhead tripod head then you will always be struggling to straighten your verticals with accuracy and speed. When you separate both axis into two different gears you can get a lot more control over your composition. Once you've used a tripod head like this you will never want to go back to composing with a ballhead.
The price at US$225 is extremely good value! There are plenty of tripod heads from competitors like manfrotto, Leofoto, and Arca Swiss. But they range from $500 to over $2000, which can be extremely pricey. These heads like the Arca Swiss cube have their uses but if you're after a head that is affordable and can do all the same functions then I can highlight recommend the GH-PRO II.
