85TH CAL DAY: The Annual Day celebrations took place at St. Sebastian Church Platinum Jubilee Hall at 6pm. The programme started with the CAL anthem song followed by prayer song. Msgr. Maxim Noronha the Vicar general of Mangalore Diocese presided over the function. Rev. Fr. Vincent Monteiro, Parish Priest & Director of CAL and Mr. Austin Dsouza Prabhu were the chief guest of the programme. Fr. Ronald Dsouza (ICYM Director, Mangalore Diocese), Rev. Fr. Anil Pinto (ICYM ECD Director, Mangalore Diocese), Mrs. Mavis Rodrigues (Secretary, Parish Council, Bendur), Mr. Leon Saldhana (ICYM President, Mangalore Diocese) were the Guests of Honour. Rev. Fr. Rohan Dias, Mr. Sujith J Noronha, Mr. Stephen Veigas (CAL President), Ms. Carol Lobo (CAL Secretary) were the other dignitaries on the dais.
CAL President, Mr. Stephen Veigas welcomed the gathering. The Annual report of CAL was read by Ms. Carol Lobo. Prizes for the Children’s games were given by Rev. Fr. Anil Pinto, Mrs. Mavis Rodrigues and Mr. Sujith J Noronha to the winners. In recognition of the services rendered to CAL and Mangalore Diocese, the following members were honoured,

Speaking on behalf of the honoured members, chief guest Dr. Austin Dsouza Prabhu expressed his best wishes to CAL and recalled some good old memories and requested the CAL members to take active part in the church and society activities with less usage of mobile phones. Fr. Ronald Dsouza and Fr. Vincent Monteiro addressed the gathering and extended their best wishes to the Ex and present CAL members. Msgr Maxim Noronha delivered the presidential address by mentioning that he was the spiritual director for the 60th Annual year and after 25 years being the president of the programme for the 85th Annual Day celebration. Sanjay Dsouza compered the formal programme. Lynal Lewis introduced the honouring members. Prem Pinto announced the sponsor’s names and Ms. Jane Dsouza read out the winners list of the children’s games.
The Cultural and Entertainment Programme was organized in collaboration with the Ex and Present CAL members. A special song for the 85th year was composed by Mr. Claud Dsouza. There were variety of entertainment comprising dances, duet songs, group songs and comedy act and drama. Mrs. Asha Menezes and Mr. Dheeraj Lobo took charge of the singing. Dances were performed under the guidance of Mr. Deepak Dsouza and Mr. Sachin Menezes. Levin Pinto and Riva Dsouza compered the cultural programme. The main highlight of the entire event was the Konkani drama “Sampadle – The End”, written by Mr. Joel Pereira and directed by Mr. Claud Dsouza, music by Mr. Joel Pereira, light effects by Arun Electricals, sound effects by Chris Electronics. The main motive of the drama was based on the present situation of the youth and family – Friends, Drugs and Society. The cultural programme concluded with ICYM Anthem sung by CAL members.
