The claims that Nazi Germany built and operated "advanced propulsion craft" (i.e. flying saucers) that are responsible for (at least some) UFO sightings are a subset of the more general category of claims that (at least some) UFOs are vehicles of terrestrial origin. Different versions include either home-grown Nazi technology, or reverse-engineered alien technology. In scope, they vary from "mundane" top-secret craft limited to Earth's atmosphere to full-scale Nazi colonization of the Solar System. However, this allegedly sophisticated technology didn't exactly help them win the war...

Was Hitler Building Advanced UFOs in Antarctica?
Some believe that as many as 250,000 senior officers in the Nazi Party, perhaps even Hitler, escaped in U-boats from Germany in the last days of the World War II. But where would they have gone? Some say they went to Argentina, protected by the sympathetic Juan Peron administration, but others believe they escaped to a secret base in Antarctica that was already developing startling and powerful new weapons. Stuff They Don't Want You To Know hosts Matt Frederick and Ben Bowlin look all the theories — and facts — in the podcast Did the Nazis Really Make UFOs?
For decades there have been scattered rumors of “Die Glocke,” meaning the bell, a space-going, UFO-like saucer craft developed by WWII Nazis. Mounting evidence is now confirming that Nazi-era Germans developed advanced technologies that allowed them to make covert missions off-earth.
Those who claim the Nazis visited the moon, Mars and possibly the Aldebaran solar system, often speak of evidence of the “Bell.” This craft had an unknown energy source that was capable of powering sustained flight beyond earth’s orbit.
Newly surfaced documents and personal interviews confirm a secret Nazi space program. It is reported that Nazi technology allowed the Germans to travel beyond Earth using a design called the “Nazi Bell,” a.k.a. Die Glocke. At the heart of the German space program, the Nazi Bell may have played a role in the development of earth-based UFO technology.

In ufology, conspiracy theory, science fiction, and comic book stories, claims or stories have circulated linking UFOs to Nazi Germany. The German UFO theories describe supposedly successful attempts to develop advanced aircraft or spacecraft prior to and during World War II, and further assert the post-war survival of these craft in secret underground bases in Antarctica, South America, or the United States, along with their creators.[1] According to these theories and fictional stories, various potential code-names or sub-classifications of Nazi UFO craft such as Rundflugzeug, Feuerball, Diskus, Haunebu, ... and Reichsflugscheibe have all been referenced.

German UFO literature very often conforms largely to documented history on the following points:
Nazi Germany claimed the territory of New Swabia in Antarctica, sent an expedition there in 1938, and planned others.
Nazi Germany conducted research into advanced propulsion technology, including rocketry, Viktor Schauberger's engine research, flying wing craft and the Arthur Sack A.S.6 experimental circular winged aircraft.
Some UFO sightings during World War II, particularly those known as foo fighters, were thought by the Allies to be prototype enemy aircraft designed to harass Allied aircraft through electromagnetic disruption; a technology similar to today's electromagnetic pulse (EMP) weapons.

The Bell UFO was among the first flying objects to be connected with the Nazis.[citation needed] It apparently had occult markings on it and it was also rumoured to have been very similar to a Wehrmacht document about a vertical take off aircraft. It is directly related to the supposed crash of a bell-shaped object that occurred in Kecksburg, Pennsylvania, USA on December 9, 1965. The same month, German engineer Rudolf Schriever gave an interview to German news magazine Der Spiegel in which he claimed that he had designed a craft powered by a circular plane of rotating turbine blades 49 ft (15 m) in diameter. He said that the project had been developed by him and his team at BMW's Prague works until April 1945, when he fled Czechoslovakia.
