Jim Carrey revealed he would be interested in making a sequel to The Mask.Speaking to Comicbook.com in January, the actor, 58, admitted he was open to revisiting the 90s comedy classic if the right director was behind the project.Of his conditions for returning to the manic superhero role, he explained: 'I don't think in terms of sequels and stuff like that. The Mask I think, myself, you know, it would depend on a filmmaker. 'It depends on a filmmaker really. I don't want to do it just to do it. But I would only do it if it was some crazy visionary filmmaker. Sure.' The original film tells the tale of Stanley Ipkiss (Carrey), a socially awkward bank clerk who finds a magical mask that transforms into a wacky, suave cartoon figure who can manipulate the world around him.Cameron Diaz played female lead Tina Carlyle in the film, and while a direct sequel was never made of the film a spin-off titled Son Of The Mask was released in 2005. This is not the first time one of Jim's iconic film roles have been tipped to get a sequel, as in December WeGotThisCovered reported a third Ace Ventura is allegedly in the works. The publication reported the film was set to get a sequel as they said production company Morgan Creek were in talks to make it.It was also claimed the actor was interested in reprising his role as the Pet Detective, despite previously expressing his reluctance to revisit the character in the past. While the new film has yet to officially be confirmed, production studio Morgan Creek appeared to support the news as they shared the report on Twitter and used the shifty eyes emoji. Reporter Daniel Richtman also added fuel to the fire regarding the reports, as he shared a tweet expressing his delight at the possibility of a third film.1994 hit Ace Ventura: Pet Detective followed the adventures of titular animal detective as he tried to find the dolphin mascot of the Miami Dolphins American football team. Its subsequent sequel Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls saw the detective go on a spiritual journey following the death of a raccoon, and upon his return he decides to investigate the disappearance of a rare white bat. The potential third film is not the first time a follow-up has been made to the 90s classics, as an animated series ran from 1999 to 2000 on Nickelodeon, while a stand-alone Ace Ventura Jr.: Pet Detective focused on his son.
