For anyone who doesn't know, Rate My Plate is a Facebook group with more than 1.8m followers, who love nothing more than critiquing the dishes that people share. Even if the dish looks as if it has been made by a culinary genius, followers will still find something to judge. The latest plate was submitted by Liam M, who shared a picture of his questionable looking pancake, to mark Shrove Tuesday - also known as Pancake Day - and the comments are savage. Whilst Brits up and down the country are topping their pancakes with lemon and sugar or Nutella and banana, Liam M is topping his with slightly more peculiar ingredients. Although the pancake in question looks to have a crepe-like texture - positive - its colour is slightly offputting. It's dark green, with a grey tinge and is covered in a white powder, which looks like it could be flour. The pancake is then topped with an egg - that looks slightly worse for wear, with the yolk splattered and white folded in on itself. But that isn't the strangest part - there are also a number of chewing gums placed on top for decoration - each to their own. One person brutally commented: "Did you scrape last year’s pancake off the ceiling and re use it?? And the chewing gum, to keep you’re breath fresh, for when you hurl it back up!" Another said: "Here's one I prepared earlier. 25 years earlier." And a third said: "The only thing happy about pancake day is we are not having pancakes at your house..." A fourth joked: "Looks like great modern art, you might make a fortune there!" Have you recently experienced a hilarious cooking fail? We want to hear all about it.
