ROUGH TRANSCRIPTION TEXT BELOW:
Hello! My name is John Klish. I live here in Grand Junction Colorado, western Colorado near the border of Utah. We are in an area classified as "rural" for interpreting / deaf access under definition of RISP (Rural Interpreting Service Pilot).
Right now RISP is a pilot program and we're trying to convert it to a permanent program in the State of Colorado. I would like to see this program to become a permanent feature for our deaf and hard of hearing residents of Colorado. I feel it really benefits my personal and business life.
I am in my business workplace right now - you can see all the equipment behind me. My business, MAD Racing Colorado, is specialized in special events oriented towards endurance sports. We produce events and as well provide services for other events.
My daily life requires daily meetings. Occasionally I request interpreters for situations that require over 3-4 people in the meeting because it becomes extremely difficult for me to keep up with my lip-reading super power at that point. So it's been really beneficial as a small business owner to have access to such services provided by RISP. This has helped me conserve my money and as well communicate clearly with my clients.
I have heard many successful stories about RISP and I strongly believe in this program! Please come February 23rd and give your insight on how this bill should be written into the State of Colorado. This is crucial to YOU, yes YOU, because this service is FOR YOU. Yes, it has greatly benefited me, but it also has to benefit you as well. We all need to ensure all of our needs are met with this exciting new bill!
