Prom centers around Emma Glass, a long shot Prom Queen candidate and member of the prom committee, who just wants to find the perfect dress before graduating and moving away from her small NC town of Eastwick. But all that changes when one of her best friends, Mercedes, a fellow prom queen candidate, goes missing. This happens just as Eastwick High is finally moving on from a gruesome murder of a popular, yet mischievous classmate, Veronica Deetz. Soon prom, becomes the last thing on Emma’s mind. Not only is Mercedes missing but someone is also sending threatening letters to the other candidates, including herself and Sasha, Emma’s other best friend and Eastwick High’s resident gossip. Emma finds her life nearly on the verge of imploding as she begins to navigate the pressures of school, a reemerging relationship with her old boyfriend, who may or may not have a connection with the person sending the letters, and Mercedes’ disappearance. To make matters worse, Emma finds herself the center of interest from the reigning mean girl Heather Gray. Rumors of prom being canceled have begun to take hold and Heather wants to know if her chances of achieving the holy trifecta: Homecoming Queen, Prom Queen, and Valedictorian will be derailed or come to fruition. As Emma becomes increasingly the center of the storm, she wonders who is scarier and if her life will ever be the same. Prom is a darkly humored thriller centering on a wealth of characters all wanting to survive their senior prom.
