In February 2018, Chinese Attorney Li Baiguang was reported to have died of “liver failure”—a common cause of death for previously healthy human rights attorneys in China. Although Attorney Li is best known for meeting with powerful leaders around the world, he spent most of his time with the poor and underrepresented population of China.
